PressureLess Cleaning System

The PressureLess™ Cleaning System is TrueDecks’ proprietary low-pressure deck cleaning method that removes dirt, mildew, and graying without the wood damage caused by aggressive high-pressure washing. Developed through more than 25 years of deck restoration experience in Maryland and Virginia, this process helps restore the appearance of outdoor wood surfaces while protecting their structure.

Deck PressureLess Cleaning

What Is the TrueDecks PressureLess™ Cleaning System?

Traditional pressure washing relies on force to remove buildup, but excessive pressure can damage wood fibers, create surface roughness, and leave decks needing additional repairs before they can be properly restored. The PressureLess™ Cleaning System uses a controlled low-pressure cleaning approach designed to safely remove contaminants while preserving the underlying surface.

Unlike traditional pressure washing, the PressureLess™ Cleaning System focuses on controlled cleaning that removes buildup and strips old finishes while helping preserve the condition of the surface. The process also prepares the deck surface and opens the pores of the wood for future maintenance, including sealing or staining as needed.

Why High Pressure Damages Wood

High-pressure washing may seem like a quick way to remove dirt and buildup, but too much force can damage the surface of a wood deck. Learn more about why high-pressure washers can damage your deck and what to consider before cleaning your outdoor surfaces.

Excessive pressure can raise wood grain, leave wood surfaces rough, cause splintering and furring, and strip away healthy wood fibers. It can also force moisture deeper into the material, creating additional preparation work before the deck can be properly sealed or stained.

Unlike aggressive pressure washing methods, the PressureLess™ Cleaning System uses a controlled approach that removes buildup while helping preserve the condition and appearance of the wood. This allows the surface to be properly prepared for future maintenance without unnecessary damage.

How the PressureLess™ System Works

The PressureLess™ Cleaning System is a careful process designed to clean and preserve outdoor surfaces without relying on the damaging force of traditional high-pressure washing. Before any cleaning begins, TrueDecks evaluates the condition of the deck and determines the appropriate approach based on the surface and its current condition.

1. Wood Condition Evaluation

Every deck starts with an evaluation to understand its condition before cleaning begins. This deck inspection allows TrueDecks to identify the needs of the surface and determine the right approach for cleaning, stripping old finishes, and preservation options.

2. Cleaning Solution Application

The PressureLess™ process begins with applying a cleaning or stripping solution to help loosen dirt, mildew, and other buildup from the deck surface or remove any old finishes. This step prepares the surface for cleaning without relying on excessive pressure while opening the pores of the wood for better stain or sealer penetration.

3. Low-Pressure Rinse

After the cleaning solution has been applied, the surface is rinsed using a low-pressure process. This helps remove loosened buildup while avoiding the damage that aggressive pressure can cause to wood fibers.

4. Brightening and Neutralizing

After cleaning, the deck may go through a brightening and neutralizing step to help improve the appearance of the wood and prepare the surface for the next stage of maintenance.

5. Optional Sealing or Staining Application

Once the deck has been cleaned and prepared, an optional sealing or staining application can provide additional protection and help maintain the appearance of the surface over time.
