Deck Safety Evaluations For $300
Safety Deck Evaluations for Realtors and New Buyers
Are you in the process of buying a new home or trying to sell yours? Or do you simply want to check the safety of your existing deck after many years of use? As I’m sure you’re aware, most home inspections do not include a comprehensive and detailed deck evaluation – which, unfortunately, can result in thousands of costly repairs later on.
That’s why we offer a safety deck evaluation service for home buyers, realtors, and anyone looking to check in on the safety of their deck. Our detailed deck safety evaluations are more specific than a general home inspection! We charge a flat rate of $300 for our deck evaluation services and this fee will be credited toward the cost of repairs if needed.
SAFETY DECK EVALUATIONS & CARE
When it comes to inspecting and caring for your deck, TrueDecks makes it simple. That’s why people rely on a professional deck contractor to perform a detailed assessment and evaluation to determine if deck is up to code and safe to use. At TrueDecks we perform deck evaluations for concerned buyers or sellers as well as realtors to ensure that there are no surprises or expensive repairs at the last minute that may jeopardize the selling/buying transaction. Whatever the reason it is important to check the safety of your new (or old) deck.

Frequently Asked Questions
Signs that a deck may be unsafe include loose or unstable railings, soft or deteriorated wood, damaged boards, movement underfoot, and visible problems with posts or other structural components. Some issues may not be obvious from the surface, so a professional deck safety evaluation can help identify areas of concern and determine whether repairs are needed.
Decks should be visually inspected at least once a year, especially as they age and after severe weather or events that may have caused damage. Homeowners should look for loose or deteriorated railings, movement, damaged or decaying wood, loose fasteners, structural connections, and areas where moisture may be accumulating.
The need for a professional inspection depends on the deck’s age, construction, materials, condition, and exposure to the elements. If you notice unusual movement, deterioration, loose components, or other structural changes, TrueDecks® recommends having the deck professionally evaluated rather than waiting for the next routine inspection.
During a deck safety evaluation, TrueDecks® examines the decking, framing, support posts, beams, joists, ledger connections, flashing, fasteners and hardware, railings, stairs, and other accessible structural components for visible signs of deterioration, movement, improper installation, or potential safety concerns.
We also evaluate whether the existing structure appears to meet current applicable deck safety and building-code requirements, since older decks may have been built under outdated standards or may contain construction methods that are no longer considered acceptable. If deficiencies are identified, we provide our findings and recommend repairs, reinforcement, or upgrades necessary to improve the deck’s safety and structural performance.
TrueDecks® provides detailed deck safety evaluations for $300. If repairs are needed and performed by TrueDecks®, the $300 evaluation fee is credited toward the cost of the repairs.
Unlike a general home inspection, our evaluation focuses specifically on the deck’s structural condition, safety, and applicable code requirements, helping identify potential safety concerns, structural deficiencies, and repairs or upgrades that may be needed.
If a deck safety evaluation identifies problems, TrueDecks® will explain the findings and recommend the most practical solution based on the severity, location, and overall condition of the structure. Depending on what we find, the deck may need targeted repairs, structural reinforcement, code and safety upgrades, resurfacing with new decking and railings, or in more severe cases, complete replacement.
Our goal is not to automatically recommend rebuilding. Because TrueDecks® specializes in deck repair, restoration, resurfacing, and new construction, we can evaluate the available options and recommend the solution that provides the best combination of safety, remaining service life, and long-term value.
A deck does not technically “pass” or “fail” a typical home inspection, but a home inspector can identify structural defects, deterioration, unsafe conditions, or apparent code-related concerns that may affect a real estate transaction or require further evaluation.
Because a general home inspection covers the entire property, it may not provide the same level of detail as a dedicated deck safety evaluation. TrueDecks® provides specialized evaluations for homeowners, buyers, sellers, and real estate professionals, including assessment of accessible structural components, connections, railings, stairs, deterioration, and applicable safety and code considerations. If deficiencies are found, we can also provide recommendations and pricing for necessary repairs or upgrades.
