Deck Repairs Big and Small
Decks are a great place to entertain your friends and family, but you’ll want to make sure that you take care of it so it lasts for years to come. Unfortunately, no matter how well your deck was built, or how well you take care of it, it will eventually start to show signs of wear and tear. How quickly those signs show, comes down to how well you maintain the overall health of your deck. So no matter if your deck needs repairs from a few touch-ups to severe damage in the Silver Spring area, TrueDecks can help!
If left unattended, your wooden boards may begin to rot, crack, or loosen, and while this might seem like a small issue, they can become a serious safety hazard if not repaired and maintained properly. Some of the more common deck repairs we see include replacing or reinforcing these weakened boards and railings, as well as strengthening the structural supports. When it comes to damaged decks, we’ve seen it all and are prepared for the next best steps. All of our technicians are licensed and insured to complete deck repairs in the Silver Spring area, so they know that in some cases, it might be best to build a new deck or resurface it rather than try to salvage what you already have. Resurfacing your deck includes using the current supports and replacing the current boards with new composite Trex boards or another wooden material. No matter what is best for your deck, you can feel confident that your deck is in good hands with TrueDecks, especially with our price match guarantee. We’ll make your deck look like it did when it was first built – or even better!

Just like a vehicle, a deck requires special care in order to keep it looking nice year after year. There are a lot of things you can do to preserve your deck’s finish and keep your deck looking like new. Here are some deck maintenance tips:
- Sweep decks often, especially if there are trees around the deck.
- Hose wood down when dirt accumulates, however DON’T PRESSURE WASH!
- Don’t let dirt or particles build up in between the wood slots. This keeps water from draining, which can lead to water damage.
- If there’s a barbecue grill on your deck, clean up grease, oil and ash spills immediately to prevent damage to the finish.
- Don’t let snow sit on the deck for many days.
- Scrub down deck at least twice a year to remove clinging dirt and decaying matter.
- Under any circumstances, never use bleach or any chemicals to wash your deck as it may damage finish.
- And most importantly, schedule a maintenance cleaning and reconditioning with TrueDecks™ every 2-4 years. This time span will depend on the type of finish used to prevent your wood from suffering permanent damage.

Have been using DeckMaster for years and will continue to do so. Very courteous workers Joan GlasgowTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wilmer Pena and crew are the best! Amanda GarzonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. TrueDecks did a great job bringing my deck back to life. The deck had weathered substantially, nails were sticking out, and I couldn't walk barefoot due to deep ridges in the wood. The guys came one day to do the prep (cleaning) and then another day to sand the deck, repair the wood, replace two planks, and weather seal the entire deck. They were very friendly and respectful. Carlos initially came out to give the estimate and the price did not differ. It was the most competitive to the three quotes I received. They were recommended by a friend who also loved the work they did on her deck in Virginia. Amy IadarolaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Deck looks fantastic, thanks! Karin MarshallTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. TrueDecks did a fantastic job. Our deck was in sad shape and had been neglected for quite a while. They replaced boards, sanded, painted, and made it look amazing! I highly recommend their services. John GatewoodTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. TrueDecks did an excellent job refurbishing our deck. I called when I found a rotting support post and asked if it could be salvaged at all. Fernando did an excellent job explaining the process and provided a fair quote and positive prognosis for the deck's future. The workmanship was excellent and the deck looks better than ever. The crew was professional and considerate through the process. There were a few issues around communication: After the initial cleaning we had to follow up on our own (~10 days later) to schedule the actual staining of the deck, which did occur promptly the next day. Additionally, the plan to paint an area of the deck white was not clearly communicated to the crew, requiring a second trip out to repaint that area. To their credit TrueDecks made it right and the quality of work was excellent. Overall I'd absolutely recommend their services and plan to call again the next time our deck needs a refresh. Liza LathamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I contracted with TrueDecks to replace all the railings on my 20 year old deck. The ballisters were falling out and parts of the railing fell off because of wood rot under the railings. We have a pretty good-sized deck and I was amazed how fast they demolished and replaced the railings, rebuilt 2 sets of stairs, replaced and realigned the 2 storm doors of the screen room, and added extra posts and beams to properly provide more support for our screen porch, including leveling it off as it had dropped a couple of inches in one corner. The bulk of the renovation was pretty much complete in 3 days! We also contracted for power washing of the deck and the house, and added a screen replacement for the screen porch to replace the many holes and loose screening. The estimator Carlos Del Prete was just Great to work with. He took the time to explain everything that was needed and all the work that was being performed. Carlos was our first contact with TrueDecks to provide the estimate, came out a second time to talk with us some more and he visited the job site at least 3 more times to check in on us and the work, and answer any questions we might have. Carlos was very attentive throughout the project. Pavel, the Construction Manager was easy to reach and kept in touch throughout the process. Both Carlos and Pavel had great communication throughout the whole project. Selvin and Fernando did all the hard labor - they were awesome! They were prompt, worked hard, and were very respectful of our yard and home. I work from home in a room that leads to the screen porch and deck and I really appreciated how hard they worked, that they were not disruptive, and I could continue my work day without interruption. They cleaned up the work area at the end of each day so it wasn't messy. The TrueDeck office staff were very helpful and equally communicative. Can't say how happy I am with my nearly brand new deck! Would highly recommend TrueDecks! zachary zurichTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Called truedecks to get a quote for my deck and patio project. After a month of back and forth and hours of time truedecks contract provides no start date and no completion date. They ask for 25% upfront without any plans being approved or any commitment to start or finish the project. I asked to speak to the owner he refused. Note the owner denied this however I'm attaching the text message with fernando specifically requesting to speak to Jose. Their idea of business is give us $40,000 and we will tell you later if and when we will build your deck whenever we feel like it. Also they blame the failure on lack of a performance bond which had nothing to do with it. The company wanted 40k upfront which is unreasonable. I told them I would not do that without a performance bond which they clearly financially weren't in a position to get. But aside from that they refused to draw plans and obtain approvals without 40,000. That is what is unreasonable. What if they deck wasn't even approved. You can see from my text message the owner is clearly not being truthful. Just trying to make a nonsense response to what are clearly bad business practices and poor communication. bayard catronTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My home was built circa 1986 and I bought it in 2017. I believe the deck was original to the house and was on its last legs. Rather than continue with the expensive maintenance of a painted wood deck, I opted to re-do the deck using Trex flooring and vinyl railings so I can just wash it once or twice a year. Based on my research, TrueDecks offered a fair price and had the experience, photos and reviews to assure I'd get good service and product. Our project manager was Fernando - he visited us for the estimate and answered all our questions, and provided lots of samples of the materials. Fernando assured us if there was a minor cost overrun, we would not be responsible for the extra charge, and he was as good as his word. Pavel assisted Fernando with the management of the project and visited the site during construction, and Selvin was the on-site carpenter subcontractor who removed the old deck and built the new one. He and his team were fantastic and got the job done quickly and well, working through multiple 100-degree days, finishing plenty early so we can have our party on the July 4 weekend. I am so grateful to TrueDecks for making our dream of a lower-maintenance deck come true, and for exceeding our expectations in every way. I will be recommending TrueDecks to all my friends and family and keeping them in my Rolodex for possible future construction.
