Our Story
TrueDecks was founded in 1999 by Jose Ugalde, who had a vision to create a better and more efficient way of cleaning and restoring wood decks. As a former technician for a pressure washing company, Jose witnessed day after day how poor the cleaning methods were and how they caused damage to the wood of the deck. He knew that there had to be a better way.
Jose spent years testing and experimenting with different methods, chemicals, and pressure levels to find a safe yet effective method. Then, he pioneered the PressureLess™ cleaning and preservation system, which is a revolutionary process that removes dirt, debris, and old sealants and stains without harming the wood’s composition. Unlike power washing, this low-pressure system does not cause damages such as raising wood grain and causing splintering of the wood. It also uses a safe and effective chemical mix that opens the pores of the wood and restores its natural tone followed any our preservation system.
Since then, TrueDecks has grown to become one of the leading deck and patio companies in Maryland, DC and Virginia. We have served thousands of satisfied customers with our high-quality services and products. We have also expanded our services to include deck and patio construction, custom designs, deck repairs, exotic wood restoration and care, exterior house washing, and more.
